Russia has joined the attack on the BBC. It's becoming clear that what is happening is not a criticism of a mistake by the BBC, but an international fascist attack on British democracy. You only have to see the extraordinary number of trolls unleashed on X to know that's what is happening.

MUST READ! In the latest CST blog about the damaging changes going on at the BBC Written Archives Centre, @marklewisohn.bsky.social delivers his cri de cœur squarely at those who came up with or are signing-off on this policy shift. Please read and share widely.

DEFENDING THE WAC: MARK LEWISOHN LOOKS AT WHY RENEWED APPRECIATION IS URGENTLY REQUIRED
I was asked to write an op-ed piece saying why I think the BBC’s Written Archives Centre (WAC) is a unique and brilliant resource, which I can do because it’s both – and why, therefore…

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

And this from @Athersmike says it all in his subtle brilliance. If only we could clone him. How badly - how poorly - how indifferently some of the ‘bigger’ counties & the ECB treat a format that has so much to offer all. It’s greed - pure & simple not cricket.

The first time Charlie Chaplin used his voice in a film, he wielded it to forcefully condemn the rising forces of fascism around the globe. Will we listen to his words today?

It's outrageous. Labour's new Planning and Infrastructure bill will be disastrous for wildlife. What are they playing at?

Share if you think Labour should be protecting wildlife, not destroying it!

I'd forgotten how atmospheric the cutting is - an amazing testament to 19th century engineering, and the sheer hard graft of the workers, when you see it close up like that👍

One lesson from volunteering at a Foodbank is that we are indeed an island of strangers.
The division is not ethnicity but wealth. Just like I don't know any wealthy landowners our clients don't know people who own their homes or enjoy a regular decent income.
