Sunrises getting earlier by about 2 minutes per day now, travelling progressively north on the horizon, from my vantage point across distant Prenton Ridge.

The 2 photos reflect the sun's position last Friday and today, which shows how much movement over just 4 days.

Celestial clockwork in action!🌞

Oh no! 🫣

I've just got home from the co-op on our estate after picking up a parcel. I also bought some milk at the self service checkout, or so I thought, as I heard my phone ping, but it seems the transaction wasn't completed, so I've stolen it! 😱

What a way to embark on a life of crime! 😬😂

Some welcome signs that spring is on the way, from today's otherwise muddy walk

Very damp underfoot in Royden Park today. Last year's oak and beech leaves still clinging on, and lots of gorse in flower.

Just after high tide at Pont Penarlâg / Hawarden Bridge this lunchtime. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Strange effect with the water in the flood plain channel flowing in the opposite direction to the main river channel, with the whole area looking very wet after all the recent rain.

Not a cheery or picturesque walk today, but went to have a look at the ongoing demolition of #Woodchurch Community Centre and Swimming baths.

I've attached a pros / cons table, but my personal thoughts are that sadly, the social, financial and criminal costs are likely to vastly outweigh savings.🤷‍♂️

Had a walk through Oxton village today, en route to The Williamson Art Gallery & Museum.

St Saviours church dominates the skyline, sitting atop the ridge. Nice to see my first daffodils of 2026, enjoy the architecture of the grand buildings, plus a very literal impromptu road sign adornment. 👢👍

Nice colours today too, from wild primrose, snowdrops, brown beech leaves, slill clinging on, and gorse.

I've been neglecting my walking recently, due to a combination of the dreary weather and arthritic knee pain, but today was too good an opportunity to miss some all too rare sunshine.

Route took me through Arrowe Park to Royden Park - Arrowe & Greasby Brooks flowing well.

I don't know where to even begin with the terrible scenes coming in from The U.S.

To my American followers, sending solidarity and supportive thoughts. I'm not religious, personally, but here are some photos of Liverpool Catholic Cathedral, offered as a symbol of hope, peace and reconciliation x

A couple of old photos:

*The ghost roundabout on Woodchurch Road, from before the motorway was built (looking towardsThe Rockers Bridge)
*Arrowe Park roundabout bus shelter.

How times change eh? 🤷

I feel an almost irresistible urge today to wade in with some thoughts on world politics, but have taken a deep breath and drawn back from the brink. Here are some nice tall trees instead🌳🌲

It's worth focusing on the natural world, when so much about life appears to be in a state of flux.

Winter vibes in Brotherton Park today.

Treacherous underfoot .... in hindsight, should have worn boots, not trainers 😬🫣
