"Why not just learn english" as a response is bothersome because it is so reductive. (If we really want to talk about it) it's not like everyone who was born and raised here and speak english as their only language have a firm grasp on it either

There's no need for a state to demand road exams to be in english under the guise of safety when most road signs use symbols and numbers. Even signs that do have english like "narrow bridge" and "school zone" are simple enough for non-fluent speakers to learn what they mean.

A peeve of mine is seeing people speed in residential/school zones. I just saw two cars go fifteen over the limit while failing to stop at a stop sign. Schoolchildren are still loading into their respective buses. What's wrong with people?

No need to imagine. The country incarcerates children as young as 9 years old daily in youth prisons and jails. Those children are routinely sexually and physically assaulted and also emotionally tortured. They are fed terrible food and given barely any education. This country has done this for yrs.
