I’m not on TikTok but I feel the same way about Twitter back in the day. It was like having access to a giant library or speakers’ forum where I could learn the most obscure facts from experts and hobbyists. It feels like a lot of it is being replaced by soulless AI
Also any of the historians who talk about anything weird in history, I love all of those so much.
And housing inspector TikTok. And anything woodworking/restoration. People who teach you how to sew. People who teach you about painting.

I was teaching HS in 2017 when scaramucci was hired and fired and I tried to explain to my students how abnormal this all was and I got blank stares. This is all they know. And he wouldn’t even be fired today because it’s actually gotten worse since then.
I think that folks aren't seriously thinking about the implications of young adults who know nothing other than a country which has normalized MAGA politics, God help us all.
