Water Rail are regular night migrants over Poole & the Asda Peregrines often take advantage of the light pollution & catch them at night. The remains are often blown off the feeding ledge on the Asda flats during strong winds giving a great insight into recent food items @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social

Game of Wool didn't have a good first week. Imagine if Bake Off said it was meringue week, got the contestants to just fry an egg, then booted off the only person who tried to make a meringue www.shetnews.co.uk/2025/11/05/s...

These things inspire such absurd nostalgia in Poole's big kids. So many happy memories of clambering on these
🦛 🐋 🐢 The Poole play sculptures have come out of hibernation!

Originally installed in the town’s Dolphin Centre (formerly the Arndale Centre) in 1969, the wooden Hippo, Turtle, and Whale sculptures were by renowned artist Peter Hand (1929-2024). 🧵

The crackdown on LGBTI people in Turkey is drastically intensifying. New draft laws criminalise anyone who “engages in behaviours contrary to biological sex and general morality.” Even promoting or supporting LGBTI rights could become a crime. 🧵

I'm seeing a few media reports on Lyme disease at the mo. It can be a serious condition, but please bear in mind it can also be a false diagnosis. It's promoted by people who offer fake tests to give people the result they want, then flog them private treatment.

I recently learned about 'buzz pollination'. Some flowers release a burst of pollen in response to the buzzing of a bee. Or a toothbrush

When 100 thousand trans people rallied in London it was only worthy for the "local news" section.
Don’t recall BBC News leading with any of the myriad marches for Palestine, #PeoplesVote or #Rejoin. How very odd. How very strange. How very expected.

The employee asked the girl and her mother if they needed help shopping. That’s it. That’s all. The misinformation, the insinuations (because the facts are inconveniently benign) are EXACTLY what was done to lesbians in the 80s. This is the product of hate and fear, not reality.

This is good news, but the derelict UMIST campus is a tragedy, especially the gorgeous Victorian main building. When I studied there UMIST was a prestigious independent university. It had a fun, down to earth atmosphere. Now it doesn't exist.

Incontrovertible evidence, now, of *police* investigating families supporting their kids with gender affirming healthcare in the UK. For trying to do the best for your child, following best practice in most of the world, here you get a visit from the police.
