It truly never gets old to get a new citation, especially in a chapter that took forever to write and you thought nobody had read 🥹

According to my Instagram stories archive, I submitted my PhD thesis 3 years ago on Tuesday. Where on earth does the time go?! It feels like yesterday that I got the idea while sitting in the library procrastinating from my MA coursework.

Feeling pretty tired now (it’s surprising how quickly this happens after having a baby) but had a lovely, therapeutic afternoon on Castle Meadow campus trying to stitch!

Left home 45 minutes ago and I’ve already video called my baby to tell her I miss her 😫

I started a Substack to write about some of my research thoughts in a more accessible way. Here's my first post, on the topic of timeliness in critical discourse studies research that addresses ongoing political situations:

Alright folks, looking for insightful studies that have employed corpus linguistics to examine political discourses over the past few years. Any pointers?

7.30am, baby is asleep in her moses basket and I’m crying about statistics as I write my chapter on corpus linguistics. 🥰

Very relieved that my mum has a companion app for my insulin pump as I very easily could’ve ended up in a hypo-induced coma this evening. Sugars dropped to <2.2 while I was napping and I didn’t wake up. If she hadn’t called me twice, I don’t think I would’ve woken up.

Last year I was supposed to give a presentation titled 'Researching national identity and migration discourses in times of polycrisis'. Unfortunately it didn't go ahead due to illness. I've made the presentation available on Researchgate for anyone interested.
