Exciting week this week as the book that I co-wrote a chapter for has been published. The Holistic Career Coaching Handbook. I wrote a chapter on neurodiversity in the workplace with Aretha Rutherford (who is too sensible to have social media, so I can't tag her). 1/3

Great conversation about the emotions behind the avoidance or resentment of writing. Understanding our relationship to the writing, and our response to that... One to bookmark and return to next time I'm in avoidance mode!
"We all have to collectively agree that writing is revising and it’s not a waste of time." - Dr Jane Jones

I interviewed Dr Jane Jones about how to deal with the emotions that come while writing papers --> https://rpst.page.link/SgRD

Emotional labour and academic writing
Academic writing coaches Dr Jane Jones and Dr Anna Clemens talk about emotional labour, procrastination, fear of rejection, perfectionism, writing books and what writing really is.

Such fascinating work - the impact of the environment in which we live and work. Speaks strongly to my own current interests in psychology and neurodiversity, but also my first degree, many years ago, in Geography... lots to think about.

This is such a nuanced and big-hearted piece on the evolution of autism as a diagnosis, by an anthropologist of mental health who is also the dad of a now-grown daughter on the spectrum. Great reading (gift link) www.nytimes.com/2025/09/24/o...

Yesterday, NHS England published the independent ADHD Taskforce interim report with initial recommendations for improved cross-sector support.

The full report is still to come, but I hope that this shows that the work is starting in earnest, and is being supported at the highest levels.

Every time I think about writing something about a relevant recent issue, in this case overdiagnosis, @garwboy.bsky.social writes something infinitely better than I would have managed. It's like a psychic public service he's doing.

The obsession with 'overdiagnosis' is a much bigger problem than overdiagnosis itself
The health secretary openly condemning 'overdiagnosis' of mental health and neurological issues shows just how skewed and hollow the discourse around them really is. And this helps nobody.
