Today we demonstrated a textbook case of going from "it doesn't work and we don't know why" to "it works and we don't know why"

Wish companies would just drop the idea of connecting devices only over wi-fi, it's basically black magic to set it up

Had some issues gathering enough people for a Gundam #ttrpg

A player suggested I should start with Lancer cause it's popular and then convince people to switch systems

Going back to the forsaken game that is Lancer seems like signing a pact with the devil...

Stay with me:

A #TTRPG where all the player characters are cops 2 weeks from retirement, working a dangerous high profile case. Each has elaborate retirement plans, and a one liner for when they die. The case only gets solved when one player character is left alive, with the other players... 1/2

Sharing last 4? Yyy, lemme think

* Mecha Hack (mechas, duh)
* Girl by Moonlight (magical girls, also in mechas actually)
* The Velvet Book (Persona fan game)
* Public Access (analog horror)
Share the last 4 TTRPGs you played and expose your gaming habits!

Mythic Bastionland (arthurian fantasy)
Dolmenwood (fairytale fantasy)
Lancer (scifi mecha)
Pathfinder 2E (heroic fantasy)

Thankfully I didn't have to turn on the camera in today's meeting

Otherwise everyone else would see me retch the moment they started dropping corpo speak for no bloody reason

Of all things which could have gone wrong with a new mechanic, being unintuitive wasn't among things I expected

*sigh*

back to the drawing board

What's your wildest tabletop RPG take?

Mine is the argument of "rules as written" deflects responsibility from interpreting the rules at your table, trying to shift any blame onto the designer instead of engaging with what is intended to be a collaborative process between designer and GM.

I wish all TTRPG characters the best of luck surviving the upcoming Hiatus Season, and a moment of silence in advance for those who are rerolled, killed off, or have their campaigns lost to the Holiday Void.

I'm increasingly of the opinion that proper management is important

Yet most managers are worse than useless

Maybe that explains a fair bit about the modern work place, huh?

I've noticed a certain issue with safety tools over the years

Maybe someone already found a solution, maybe you just can't fix it

Because for how they make talking about uncomfortable subject easier, the ones I know skip over the cause and type of concern

Let me explain what I mean

I find it mildly amusing that we've reached a point where online video games have not only bonuses for new players, but also for those returning after at least a few months

Just running out of fresh humans

Going from complex interlinked wikis to scraps of paper on a corkboard

I mean, as long as it works

Anyone got some short list of random potions?

Got a less-than-reliable brewer in a town, wanna have him offer some magical booze with indeterminate effects

As in, you got no idea what it's gonna do until you drink it

Spent a fair bit of time trying to implement Persona combat mechanics in ICRPG

I mean, I think it worked

Then I realized I'd probably rather just not bother with those and stick to the base combat

But instead I got inspired to make a new advancement system with an Arcana motif, so... still a win?

I feel I lost my inner worldbuilder over the years

I am now staring at #ttrpg systems, neither satisfied with the setting provided in them nor knowing where to even start making my own

Just not feeling it, I can write down some setting facts but they're not really "speaking" to me

"Just tell them" is such an underrated piece of advice for telegraphing dangers in RPGs.

"How can I hint that the hallway is trapped? How can I hint that if they defeat the dungeon lord, they become the next dungeon lord?"

Just tell them. Tell them out loud. With your words.

Grabbed a biannual magazine by nationalist conservatives, know thine enemy and all

It is bizarre how many common talking point they have with social democrats, from the opposition to big corporations to insurance on helping smaller communities

Granted, I think I can kinda see how it shapes up

The irony of getting over the creative burnout and getting an inspiration for a #ttrpg adventure...

...about burnout and frustration.
