Happy birthday to one of the greatest, Frederick Douglass. Born into slavery, he didn't know his actual birthday, but chose to celebrate it on this day.

Please read his books and essays; please teach your children his story when they are old enough to understand.

Wrapping my head around the lengths powerful people are going to protect powerful people who are sex abusers/traffickers/pedophiles.

History won't be kind to those defending & downplaying the Epstein collaborators.

I say arrest them ALL-but at the very least, they shouldn't be in the CABINET FFS

Anyone have a screenshot of the NYT image yesterday quoting an NFL player saying they should have "picked an American" and "they're leaning into the international stuff" too much when they chose Bad Bunny?

They deleted the skeet-it's still in the article but was hoping to show my students the image

Interrupting winter to share this yummy one-pot, 5 ingredient recipe that my family ate up: cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/7689...
One-Pot Tomato Grains and Greens Recipe (Gift Recipe)
Even with just five ingredients, this low-effort, wholesome weeknight dinner (or lunch) is deeply savory and satisfying. It relies on the two-for-one power of jarred marinated sun-dried tomatoes, whos...

Getting the impression that ICE is gearing up for a pogrom in Springfield, Ohio, which was ground zero of Vance’s lies about Haitians during the campaign. Haitians lose temporary protected status on February 3rd. Reporters, lawyers, neighbors — please get ready.

Public school districts need to do everything in their power to bring back highly trained school media specialist or school librarian positions they've cut over the past decade plus. Media literacy is not a luxury. It needs to be in all levels of our schools.
And, as our 2024 teen survey showed, 94% of teens want #MediaLiteracy education. But just 39% of teens reporting receiving any such instruction: bit.ly/NewsLiteracy...

The need + the desire has never been more clear.

The uncomfortable truth here is that this is NOT limited to "just this moment in Minneapolis"-if you study actual, evidence-based U.S. History you are well aware that state sponsored violence is NOT without precedent. Wilmington, 1898 is a good place to start--also see Red Shirts, White League, etc.
