A welcome break from the (mostly) boring #WinterÔympics.
“Fenton! FENTONNN!!! Oh Jesus Christ!!”
This GOOD BOY ran onto the course during the Women’s Cross-Country Skiing Team Sprint event, crossing the finish line and being automatically recorded by OMEGA’s photofinish camera 😆

Hope all resolves itself satisfactorily Mr E but you’ll probably put your visit on hold. At least you’re at home - our total clutch failure was on way home from Cotswolds… nightmare! Find a good book & relax.
Off to the Cotswolds today to see my sisters-in-law, or so I thought until the car’s ‘ignition coil’ declined to ignite. Rather like myself before 9am, if I’m honest. 🚗

Driver of #59 should be ashamed of himself. Does @london.gov.uk have any power to act on this?

A very moving interview and her bravery shone through.
Sorry Gisele!!! I’ll blame it on my autocorrect!!! 😂
But the truth remains she is a brilliant and brave woman’ #Shifttheblame

Agree - though she is Gisèle Pelicot.

Yes I recall reading that - a university lecturer if I remember correctly.
By all reports, the father at least is a quite normal, left-wing mathematician.

She must be a complete disappointment to her parents. Am convinced she’s mad as a hatter!

Our bin in France has a micro chip so we are charged by weight so take everything possible to recycle containers. We compost our food waste.
Good morning The good news it isn't raining - yet! The river is somewhat down so don't think any paddling to get to the car today.🙂Off to get our compost bin from the Mairie: rubbish to be sorted in future. Hope you all have a good day.😊

Not sure if that tray will actually fit into the oven Mr Em so check it all out first! Enjoy the preparation and the consumption of a certainly delicious meal. Good luck!
Cooking for the extended family tonight. If my measurements are correct, we dine splendidly. If not, we call in the assistance of the nearest takeaway establishment. 🛵

Didn’t they have sherbert inside?
Memories of pocket money and buying a comic and some sweets! 🎉

Sunny but windy here. Great portrait Hettie! Have to say I have not heard of this gentleman. Will look him up.
I hope everyone has a pleasant day in spite of the weather. This is a painting I did a while back: Dorothy Osborne wife of one of my fav. in History Sir William Temple. Her letters to him come in book form and are delightful: such a romantic love story. Hope everyone has a lovely day.😊

Thank you for keeping Mme Pelicot’s words in French and not dubbing them into English.
Watch Gisele Pelicot in her words

We have stopped watching - no good downhill skiing.
All these fancy events at the Olympics bear no resemblance to winter sports of my childhood. I actually think Team GB would do quite well in the 'Mixed Massive Snowball Fight'.

Thanks - the critics agree with you!
Wuthering Heights film today. Didn’t like it at all. Posh girl’s adolescent fantasy.

Very sensible!
In normal circumstances yes, but he doesn’t appear from his room before 10am. 😄

Thank you Victoria. Our very dear artist friend Janet Boulton, (1936-2024), did several paintings of the Apse in this church which she loved. We have one in our house in France.
Good evening all, it's been a long day.

I'm sending hugs to all that could do with one tonight. I'm sharing one of my special places with you too.

This is the Basilica of San Clemente in Rome, it's beauty and tranquility is astounding.

I hope you have a peaceful evening.

Looks grim here too after yesterday’s gorgeous sunshine. A cuppa in bed before making plans.
A blustery morning by the sound of it outside. One more coffee is required, before I make my brave exit with the dog. ☕️

The sadness can thus be shared with your virtual friends and followers, of whom you have many. You rightly have taken a place in our hearts and our thoughts are with you today. So glad your son is due home.
Difficult times. I thought today was the day to tell people. A day for happy-sad tears, if you get my meaning. 💖

Such a sad post Mr Em.
First Valentine’s Day in over 30 years without Mrs Emerson beside me. I shall mark the day with beautiful memories, eternal gratitude, and a small, brave toast at sunset. 💖
