Something Rotten! is opening in Manchester in June. Two years on Broadway, (10 Tony noms) - it’s played all over the world but finally getting a proper run in the UK. Great songs, funny jokes: if you don’t love it, I will give you a million pounds.

"It's a full bells and whistles production, the dancing will be exceptional, the music is fab, the songs are so funny"

Finished Riot Women last night - what a brilliant piece of TV. Gripping, pacy, funny with important things to say. A fun story about older women forming a punk band - but it's actually about violence against women which it deals with so powerfully and Sally Wainwright deserves every award out there.

Also - really annoying when the ball gets kicked out of the ground and you have to go all the way down to get it.
This will 100% not be built.

My mum died ten years ago today, so here's a couple of memories. She'd been a war child, so hated to waste food. When she had a new hip fitted, she asked the doctor if she could take the old bone home for the dog.

If only there was some visual metaphor for what the current incumbent at the White House was doing to the great office of President.

I like to think of myself as tolerant and open minded. However I do think there should be a swift and brutal police response to stop these young adults playing Quidditch on Clapham Common.

Every city should do this.
Meanwhile I shall continue to stare fixedly ahead whenever they hope to be let in during heavy traffic.

What would you do if you were totally free to live your best and biggest life?

Gender-based violence shapes women’s and girls’ lives in so many different ways - quietly limiting our freedoms and holding us back from following our dreams.

This is a very good read (as you would expect).

One stand up comic I know told me the Saudis were paying £600,000 to the top names. Which is more than I ever got on The News Quiz.

We have built a society in which people of different skin tones, religious backgrounds & cultures get along, share power, work alongside each other, procreate with each other, recognise the each other’s humanity and democratic rights. It is a STUNNING ACHIEVEMENT OF WORLD HISTORIC PROPORTIONS.
I know statistics are poorly understood and are misused. But facts matter

Between the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them

I love the patronising arrogance of "the last time I checked" and then saying something 100% wrong.
"the last time I checked Northern Ireland was part of Canada."
no excuse for being this bad

Here I am in 2020 in the flimsiest, most pitful PPE - like so many other NHS staff, some of whom died from the Covid they caught in their hospitals.

Tory peer Michelle Mone - who today lost her legal case & must repay the govt £122m - dares to claim she’s been ‘scapegoated’.

What, Michelle? 🧵
