art for children deserves to be made with great care and respect for its audience (children). Cartoons for children are not a sufficient container for your adult experiences and dont have the horsepower to tell adult stories for adults. Engage with art for adults, respect the craftsmanship it takes.
I mean this in the most earnest way possible. If your points of reference for storytelling all come from cartoons I BEG you to read more books. There’s so much more variety out there, so much that hasn’t been distilled through 80 different hands & a single corporation’s S+P department.
