Pillowfort is small and scrappy! It may not have all the modern features you're used to in a SM site, but it's not owned by anyone who literally goes to the White House to have dinner with Trump, and sickeningly in this day and age that is becoming a rarity.

I remember being told when Pillowfort was still young that there was "no room" in the social media marketplace for competitors, and since then I've gotten to watch almost every major social media network kneecap itself by either becoming a fascist cesspit or through general enshittification

I hate to seem like I'm just using this situation to promote my website but like... this is WHY Pillowfort exists. Pillowfort was created in 2017 before so many of the big sites got bought out by fascist billionaires, but it's become much more relevant since then.

There are multiple reports of TikTok censoring anti-ICE content since the site went under new ownership. It has never been more important for independent social media to exist
This morning, I recorded a video on TikTok about why DHS’s arguments for the power to enter homes without judicial warrants in immigration cases are bunk.
Nine hours later, TikTok still says my video is “under review,” and can’t be shared.
