“You don’t need to wear a mask anymore”

“You seem anxious about Covid”

“You’re not going to get Covid here”

“Take off the mask so you can breathe easier”

“Covid is over”

Masks should be normalized in healthcare.

Instead patients have to fight for basic infection control 🧵

I know
someone who
during this pandemic
lost their sense
of taste,
and someone who
during this pandemic
lost their sense

and someone who
during this pandemic
lost their sense

but I know far too many
someones who
during this pandemic
lost their sense
of empathy.

COVID cases in NSW have surged, hitting their highest weekly count since June 2024, now topping 4,000 weekly notifications. This marks a clear winter wave.

With hardly anyone reporting and public RAT reporting ending on 1 Oct 2023, actual infections are definitely higher than the official figures.

"Many of the protections and behaviours that helped us during the pandemic — like staying home when sick, wearing masks, and improving ventilation – have quietly disappeared, say Independent readers"

COVID before or during pregnancy may confer 2 to 3 times the risk of miscarriage.

"A study involving nearly 27,000 pregnancies suggests that women infected with COVID-19 before or during pregnancy are at two to three times the risk for miscarriage before 20 weeks' gestation."
COVID before or during pregnancy may confer 2 to 3 times the risk of miscarriage
Although the risk was greater with moderate-to-severe infections, even mild cases were linked to more than double the risk.

Think of this: the Liberals have now lost ALL of Sydney’s wealthiest postcodes, including the entire North Shore. All gone to Teal women. What does that tell you?

While we’re on the topic of COVID, trauma, and schools…

Researchers found a major source of pandemic-related trauma for college students was returning to in-person schooling before it was safe. It was an institutional betrayal.

There are many people, including children, that have been excluded from society because they are in a group that is known to be more at risk of serious outcomes from COVID-19.

Instead of providing safer places and people to interact with, they are mocked and excluded further.

For me there’s been a 100ppm increase in my lifetime, for my 7yo twins it’s already 14ppm. And, without urgent & drastic action, when they’re my age it will be so large the world will be unrecognizable & much of it uninhabitable. This is the issue.

Long Covid patients that I see are getting younger. Avoid infections, breathe clean air, wear a respirator. Covid is airborne. There’s no treatment for Covid or long covid. Covid damages organs, immune system, can maim and cause death. Mitigate!

To LC patients- I see you.

This Nature editor describes her personal experience of measles age 15. Don't let this (or worse) happen to your child.
As the #measles outbreak continues, and has now unfortunately resulted in the death of a child, I see a lot of posts along the lines of: "I had measles as a child and I'm fine". Let me tell you a different version of that story:

Dumb sign at the path centre in Sydney today “If you’re being tested for measles, please notify staff immediately”, nothing about protecting anyone by wearing a respirator. Public health is MIA. #maskup #maskswork #measlesisairborne

Sharing these numbers because I wasn't aware of them myself. In the US:

* 1 in 5 unvaccinated people who get measles are hospitalized

* 1 in 20 children with measles get pneumonia

* 1 to 3 in 1000 die

If you're not immune, close contact with an infected person gives you measles 90% of the time
