I just saw someone say that someone told them Oxford comma use is a telltale LLM sign
And I know it was probably ragebait but I took the bait and I'm raging 😂

This is niche but causes me physical pain:

The LinkedIn 'Experience' profile section has hyphens to separate dates in ranges
The LinkedIn 'Education' and 'Projects' sections use en-dashes for the same purpose 😭

#compchem 🗳️ I'm making a series of exercices on “molecular simulation of materials”, focusing on classical atomistic methods. Other lecturers cover electronic structure and ab initio MD.

What would be good (simple) systems to study, nice properties to calculate, analysis methods to showcase?

Whew. Right, who's up for some science? Today I have an article to finish off, a whole bunch of admin stuff, and some actual structured learning to do: like being a student again! 🤓

To clear something up: women on the Internet sometimes get things made up about them, & sadly there has been an isolated incident. I'm 100% confident so if you can find an extant instance of me doing this alleged thing, I will give you £10,000. 😄 If you have concerns I'm open to good-faith questions

My sweet little weirdo loves fireworks. He's watching them and loudpurring. In previous years he has actually meowed in an apparent request for me to turn them back on, when they stop... 🎆

Ok, this has to be the worst/best NMR acronym I've ever seen:

Incredible. 1 week (ish) into my computational chemistry studies and I'm already being recognized as an expert. ☺️

...Almost forgot to mention it was a LinkedIn spammer who wanted my "expertise". Still counts, right? Right?!!

I did some very baby computational chemistry today :))) under the distinguished tutelage of @peonor.bsky.social. In many ways I am lucky to learn years later than most comp chemists do, because how many get to learn directly from the superstar 😉😄 #compChem

Cute old post; good to hear from See Arr Oh again!
I used to have lucky fuchsia NMR caps... ok I may not have 100% believed in their power but I still used them when I really needed the compound to be correct/pure 😂
Even scientists can have superstitions: a lucky shirt, a supernatural paper towel, an elaborate ritual to keep the NMR running smoothly. In this episode of Stereo Chemistry, we’re sharing superstitions from our listeners to celebrate #Halloween. cen.acs.org/people/Chemi... #chemsky 🧪

Yesterday I was going through Euston station, and there was a bloke wearing a Superman t-shirt with the "S" logo on. He looked up at the display board, realized his train was about to leave, and started singing the theme tune under his breath as he broke into a light run 😂🦸

Revenge of the student! This time I got to ask the questions when interviewing @klchemistry.bsky.social about the group’s recent article.

Read the Chemistry World article ‘A current ⚡️ take on the Swern Oxidation’
#ChemSky
An electrochemical approach to the classic Swern oxidation converts alcohols to aldehydes and ketones at room temperature, eliminating the need for dangerous reagents and extreme conditions.
