Recently, I posted a link to an article discussing how well masks work at limiting airborne disease transmission. Gillian read the link and asked the following question.

This gets to a critical issue I thought I’d discuss.

It was always ever already too much that they were coming for anyone.

Imagine that life, that world.

Do I die or do I eat? Do I die if I dare to eat? How can I not die to feed my children?

There is no excuse for failing to say this is wrong, this is criminal, this is the epitome of inhumanity, this must end. No excuse.

…together we can do so much.

“But if the children actually belong to Sackets Harbor, if respected, dedicated and persistent local women had drawn the borders of the town in a way that clearly enveloped “our kids,” then uprooting the children from their home might be a more perilous endeavor.”
This piece offers a hopeful sign. A small community went to war with the US government, to protect and return three immigrant children to their community, and won.

They won by insisting that these children are part of their community, and their family, and by rallying the entire community…

Trump’s attacks on Canada have taken the oxygen out of the election conversation. By hijacking very real economic anxieties, urgent issues have been sidelined in favour of tariff talk.

We are all better when we include more diversity at the table, in our expression and in politics. Trans Day of Visibility.
Today is Trans Day of Visibility.

And we need to be real about what that means in 2025.

This isn’t just a day of celebration. It’s a day of resistance. Of community. Of standing up for trans people whose rights, safety, and dignity are under full-scale attack.

Those who remain silent over Israel's genocide are enabling it to continue.

She was living through Israel breaking the ceasefire and killing hundreds of Palestinians, including children.

This is wrong. Why is that so hard for our media and politicians to say?
