Just some dude. Functioning millennial stoner. Minnesota born, raised, and residing. Life is too short for anger. Love yourself and others. If you take things too seriously, we probably shouldn't be friends.

Flickr version looks the best even though it's lower resolution than the Gigapan. Important point: it's stars, not noise, so you have to zoom in.

to tie this to my new pet annoyance, this is a reason the reskeet to defend democracy outrage accounts aren't helpful.

you need to budget your energy. you are not inexhaustible.

you need to put your energy where it matters. actual resistance requires focus & energy.

Brian Thompson shooting: 'Monopoly money' found in New York health CEO gunman's backpack in Central Park
Police still have no idea of the gunman's name, whereabouts, or motive, but although no weapon has been recovered from the bag, detectives did find a jacket he may have worn during the attack.

Something I carry around in my pocket has the ability to take pictures like this.

We don't need AI or algorithms to give us art.

The goal isn't the end. It's the journey along the way.

Also, their constituents are leaving Twitter in droves, who is this messaging for?

It’s really something how Dems accuse the GOP of being intolerant (correctly I might add) but don’t see any irony in blaming their defeats on marginalized populations

It was never about racism, misogyny, and white supremacy.

It was about the price of eggs and gas.

Prove me wrong

How is this helpful?

DNC spent 100 days convincing a constituency that was never in question. That is an echo chamber.

🦋 is a fire hose of information. It's up to us to protect it!

Block/Mute everyone who wants to profit off division.

Algorithms and ai scrapping are the biggest threat.
if you think the right won't try their absolutely hardest to demonize and kill bluesky for what it represents (see every single "bluesky is an echo chamber" article) and if you think there aren't external sabotage attempts, you're genuinely an idiot.

that's fine, but can you stop being so useful?

Genuinely think anyone can “git gud” at any creative craft they are interested in. If we wanted to actually “democratize” art we would invest in housing, healthcare, food and education as human rights. All GenAI does is make people even more financially precarious and less able to pursue a passion
I think a bit of the "AI is democratizing art" argument is trying to avoid the ugly truth that to get good at anything you have to do a lot of it. I grew up "knowing" I was a good writer, but I really wasn't until about 700k words, and it took reading hours of scripts to really have a voice

Trump ate shit on one of the very first things he tried (the Gaetz nomination) before he even took office again

he will do enormous damage but he is not invincible and the more friction we can put in his way the less he will do

it is what it is now, fighting back is the only viable option
Yeah. I am very much on the verge of just blocking people who say "meh, the rule of law no longer matters" or "they're just going to do what they want" etc.

They can try, but accepting it as given, means giving up.

Stop trying to make everyone give up fighting for basic rights.
I am trying to be patient because I 100% get that people are terrified but I am really struggling with all this knee-jerk public defeatism from other liberals and leftists right now
