Calling any Skipton based followers here! As we work through the archive of architect George Pace, we've come across a whole stack of rather lovely ink sketches of all the buildings on Skipton High Street made as part of a 'street improvement plan' in the early 1960s.

Remembering those lost in #WW1.
The civilian death of Firth Dole of #Nelson.
A #Fireman at the a munitions factory in Lancaster, when fire broke out in 1917, Mr Dole went bravely to fight it, but was overwhelmed by flames and explosions.
The blast was felt 44miles away in #Burnley

Flying Officer Edmund (Edward) Thornley Lund, #Nelson, #Lancashire, died whilst serving with the #RAF VR 7th Sqd on 20th May 1944.
Remembered on the family grave at St John's Church

In 1942, serving with RAF 61(b) Sqd as rear gunner, he survived a crash and walked for help on 2 broken ankles.

Remembering a #Veteran of both #WW1 and #WW2, who died in 1940, Captain Thomas Oswald Corrin.

A well-travelled and much respected #Musician, born in Briercliffe above #Nelson, #Lancashire.

In the 1920s he was known as Uncle Tom on the BBC's Children's Hour.
