Stunning new Tom Denny window (Sept 2025) in Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford with the theme of The Prodigal Son. This is in a north-facing window, but as you might expect the colours and apparent lighting are fabulous! Worth a click!

The Roman Pharos (lighthouse) at Dover, still standing after almost 2,000 years! 🤩

It is the tallest surviving Roman structure in Britain, and one of only three surviving lighthouses from the former Roman Empire! Dated 1st-2nd century AD.

A trip out earlier to a local churchyard to see the snowdrops, crocuses and primroses flowering. Euphorbia was also flowering in the pollinator bed.

This #NationalNestboxWeek, remember not all birds nest the same way!

Here's a few options to get you started...

Robins and Wrens like to keep hidden, tucking their nests away in dense cover.

An open-fronted box placed low down and out of sight is just their style.

Always ensure garden and sports netting is put away after use - or raised at least 30cm off the ground so hedgehogs can pass safely underneath!

It was believed in medieval times that hedgehogs had spikes so they could roll over fruit to carry home to their children, which is not true but is a really cute idea

The Staffordshire Hoard helmet.
A helmet fit for a king!

This reproduction is based on helmet fragments from the Anglo-Saxon Staffordshire Hoard. It shows how it might have looked when it was made around 1,400 years ago.
