Thanks to new followers and to those who’ve been following for a while. Gradually topping up my photos of carved gravestones, countryside etc - but not much #stainedglass this year, as few churches around here are open.

Have you heard?

Gairbraid Church is on sale and plans or the interested parties aren't known. It would be great if it stayed in the community.

Come to one of the public meetings and share your thoughts.

For me, one of the most interesting aspects of Glasgow Cathedral is that despite being medieval in origins, it remains a living and evolving church. This can be most clearly seen in its stained glass windows.

Very sad news indeed. #JohnWallace #trumpet
A great light has gone out. John Wallace – the brilliant musical polymath who did so much for music education, brass music, and music in Scotland – has sadly died. We were so pleased to present him with RPS Honorary Membership (pictured here) last year.

This very special building is believed to be the only medieval Carmelite church that is still in use anywhere in the British Isles and is our #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek. This remarkable 15th century Gothic church, in South Queensferry, was once part of a Carmelite friary, founded around 1330.

Designed by John Brash of Glasgow, it was built in 1809 and is the 3rd church to be built on this spot since the Reformation. Evidence suggests Christian usage since at least 1252.
