The MBHT Team had a great time last week visiting Firhill with @partickthistle.bsky.social legends Graham and Billy.

Next year Partick Thistle is turning 150 and we are excited to be working on a little something together.

Oh Maryhill is wonderful!

Who remembers the church in the Barracks?

After the Wyndford was built, the church stood for a few years with its future uncertain. Both the Roman Catholic Church and the Church of Scotland tried to claim it, but neither succeeded. It was finally demolished in the late 1960s.

We’re so grateful to The RHF Museum for this fantastic addition to our collection!

These keys once belonged to Maryhill Barracks, but what might they have unlocked? Our best guess is a gate or a large door.

On display along with other objects and photographs until 17 Dec.

We discovered a photo of artist Hilda Goldwag in our collection and indentified the painting she’s working on!

A refugee from Vienna in the 1930s, she became an important figure in Scottish art. Her story reminds us of the creativity and resilience migrants bring to our culture.

It’s #ScottishMuseumsDay and we’re shining a light on our mightiest ‘object’: Maryhill Burgh Halls!

Opened in 1878 as the civic home of the old Burgh, they are more than just a building. They’ve seen generations of Maryhill life, from council decisions to community dances.

Do you remember this?

A striking moment in Maryhill’s history: the Roxy Cinema being demolished as the new Wyndford high flats rose behind it. Scenes like this remind us how quickly familiar places can be reshaped by redevelopment.

What will Glasgow look like in the future? That’s the big question behind this year’s Doors Open Days Festival.

To explore it, we’ve gone back in time to see how some people once imagined Maryhill’s future. Some ideas vanished, others reshaped the city we know today.

Ever noticed the carved faces watching over Maryhill Road from the Burgh Halls?

Sculpted by Charles B. Grassby, we don’t actually know who they’re meant to be.

Any guesses: local figures, mythical characters, or just the sculptor’s imagination?

#DoorsOpenDays is nearly here, and it’s got us thinking back to 2004, one of our first ever.

The Trust hadn’t even formed yet but our Hunter set up a display sharing the vision for what the Halls could become.

Do you remember when the Main Hall looked like this?

We’ll be back again this year😍

🌟Trustees!🌟

Our board is predominantly male, and we’re keen to broaden the range of voices around the table. We especially encourage women, non-binary people, and others with backgrounds or experiences which are underrepresented in community leadership.

The Burgh Halls have been here a long time, and we know many of you have too.

Got a memory that’s stuck with you? A shop, a street, a tiny moment?

We’d love to hear it: one word or a wee story.

Might share a few over the next few days.
