It’s Mailbag Monday! Today we have queer mysteries & dark romances, tales of resistance & commitment to justice, sapphic terrors on the broad back of the sea & in the courts of queens, strange circuses, & true classics from fantasy masters. Stories from beloved authors & new voices alike! Any faves?

It’s Mailbag Monday! Today we’ve got dragons, and witches, and heroes of old, weird cities, antiauthoritarianism, a Rome yet to come, & some Scots who can’t stop. Plus top-tier tunes & the drinks you really need to pair with them. Plenty of great reads of all lengths for my fall! What's on your TBR?

the ultimate dream is not to post so you can afford not to work. it’s to be financially stable enough that you don’t have to post.

This book is incredible. This isn't just a vampire novel, @stgibson.bsky.social gave a love letter to anyone who has been or is trapped by domestic abuse.
It says you are seen. You are loved. And that no matter what, you can heal.
Thank you for this gift. x

Baffled by unilateral "Saltburn sucks" retconning...I don't think it's controversial to say the film is stylishly shot, well acted, and entertainingly bonkers. Even if you dislike it, it's no waste of film.

The main gripe seems to be that the film isn't critical enough of generational wealth, which

Two great tastes that taste great together!! This coming Saturday (9/13), I am so excited to be hosting my dear friend and colleague @stgibson.bsky.social here in Louisville, KY, to discuss her latest novel: ASCENSION, Book 2 in the Summoners' Circle series!

I'm abdicating from Wuthering Heights discourse, but rest assured that all energy is being put towards The Unearthly delights series, which is my WH homage. Emily Bronte would not have wanted me to discourse. She would have wanted me to stay on my doomed by the narrative psychosexual freak beat.

peace and love to writers who "would write even if nobody read it". I used to make my friends sit in a circle at recess and listen to me read chapters from my Meg Giry/Phantom fanfic aloud. If the internet went down I would force you to read my updates delivered by pigeon. We are not the same

I saw this pose reference and couldn't get the chase scene out of my mind. It's definitely one of my favorite scenes from this book. The chemistry between Finley and Nicola is just so electric. 🥵

This is actually my last submission for the ARC competition! 🤞

It’s probably a good thing the bookish merch market isn’t totally flooded with Wuthering Heights tastesignaling consumer items the way it is with Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice otherwise I would be brokey. And I can admit that.
