Sad news indeed. If we measure success by how often a composer’s works are performed, Sofia Gubaidulina was likely the most successful female composer in history. (In recent years, Kaija Saariaho was a close second).
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sofia Gubaidulina on March 13, 2025. She was regarded as the grande dame of contemporary music and the most significant Russian composer of our time.
