Most now understand systems have constraints and that optimizing away from them won't improve value flow. The bigger revelation: it's okay for machines and people to run at less than 100% utilization; a departure from scientific management's labor-productivity trap.

The best horror comes from real life stories.

Help me create more of these Chilling Deployment Tales by sharing your real-life stories. I'll write them up anonymously in the style of classic Gothic Tales.

Chilling Deployment Tales: The Hallowed Tablet
In the chill embrace of the pre-election twilight, the monolithic warehouse, a brutalist testament to an age of digital iron and binary steam, loomed against the bruised sky. Within its vast, unyielding shell, no outward sign betrayed the delicate sinews of technology that thrummed unseen, a modern

Amen.

How many times I've witnessed the almost seasonal transformations in orgs, fixing the problems cause be the last one.

How many times I've seen orgs pendulum swing from one op model to another, once they realised what they lost (Chesterton's Fence)

Once you've embraced software development as an iterative, goal-seeking process, it makes most sense to optimise your development process for LEARNING.

And that means optimising for FEEDBACK, and for ease of CHANGE.

It's the feedback loop that does the heavy lifting.
