Uh I must have fallen off the series before then.
The ending of foundation and earth, where it's revealed the highest stage of suburbanism is people becoming hermaphrodites so they can reproduce without meeting another person, completing atomization of society

Honestly it's funny that he is *quite literally* saying "deregulate and reduce the burden of taxation on business to create jobs" and nobody on the left will criticise him. Good.
Soon small businesses won’t have to wait for Small Business Saturday to get attention from their Mayor.

Some changes that they can look forward to:

That Washington gave quarter presumably played a big role in 25% of the Hessian forces deciding to become Americans after the war.
Ordering no quarter, as Hegseth effectively did, isn't a newfangled modern war crime. It was understood as a crime as far back as the Revolutionary War. Washington threatened to do reprisals over it. The bad guy in 'The Patriot' is (very loosely) based off a British officer who was notorious for it.

precisely my thought. the president and his dumbass republican allies put these men and women into harm’s way for a political stunt and look what has happened
Whether this was random street crime or targeted political violence, I think it was bad for the president to unnecessarily put the National Guard in harm’s way like this. They simply don’t need to be there.

It’s amazing how JD Vance can suck all joy out of a food troll. Like. He’s just such a bitter and desiccated person.
JD Vance: "How many of you really like turkey?"
Many soldiers raise their hands.
Vance: "You're all full of shit."

At the in-laws for Thanksgiving and it’s truly breathtaking how shitty movies look when motion-smoothed. It’s like the visual equivalent of someone farting in a room. Drives you right out.

Thanks to this, I learned there was a Some Like It Hot TV pilot that begins with Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon getting plastic surgery to explain why new actors are playing them, and then for... reasons, the guys with new faces still have to dress as women. I'm shocked it didn't go to series!

every single thing hegseth says in public reveals a bottomless pit of insecurity
When you draw a platoon leader like Hegseth, it’s your worst nightmare. You just ride it out until he’s gone and gets replaced by someone who isn’t a complete jackass. Only a fool like Trump would put one of them in charge of the entire defense department.

the original five range from a genuine masterpiece to just fine, with ESCAPE and CONQUEST standing as the most successful sequels. and the modern series beginning with RISE is very good to great all the way through.

Due to the holiday, this week's Apple shows, Pluribus included, will drop two days earlier than usual.

("Wednesday" technically means "9 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday." I have no idea why Apple sticks to this fiction regarding when episodes are released.)

this dumb shit is what i mean when i say this is a purely aesthetic “politics.” yeah man, why can’t we have a fusion of cosmopolitan social democracy and revanchist hierarchies of wealth and privilege? tough question.
Matt Stoller: “..Trump & Mamdani defeated establishment in their own way, representing hunger of voters on the right & left who want something different. If those sides cd come together.. that would be a sea change in how we organize our political economy”.

Monopoly Round-Up: Why the Establishment Freaked Out Over a Mamdani-Trump Press Conference
Meta wins its antitrust case, there are now two fire truck antitrust claims, the stock market got wobbly, and Larry Summers was exiled from the establishment, at least for now.
