This happened in Seattle yesterday. On the eve of the anniversary of George Floyd's murder. Ppl on the ground said it was clear whose side the cops were on. I worry this is what they'll use to justify martial law. I hope I'm wrong. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
23 arrests at heated ‘Fascist Family Values’ protest in Seattle
A crowd waving transgender flags and signs denouncing the "Trump Fascist Regime" gathered in counterprotest of a "Mayday USA" event. It quickly turned violent.

Let’s be clear. When the President defies the Supreme Court, it is the role of Congress to remove him from office. Full stop.

"the president defied a Supreme Court ruling to return a man mistakenly sent to a gulag... and spoke of sending Americans to foreign concentration camps.
This is the beginning of an American policy of state terror, and it has to be identified as such to be stopped"

I see it. I have lived it. 83 years ago, the U.S. government turned upon a group of its own citizens and residents and sent them to internment camps without due process. I was there among them. American fascism is back. It is here. It is now.

I didn't think it could get more horrific than back when I was calling my reps while nursing my baby to beg them to stop caging babies, but it has. The evil is compounding and we must speak up and fight back. For Kilmar, Mahmoud, Rumeysa. For all the others kidnapped by ICE. For our humanity.

My kid's school is part of a coalition of (mostly Title 1) schools that fund raise together through an annual move-a-thon. The funds raised cover things ranging from basic supplies to after school enrichment that helps young scholars get to grade level in their learning. Every $ makes a difference!

🚨UPDATE: Rümeysa Öztürk has now suffered three separate asthma attacks while in DHS custody.

She has not received her required asthma medications—a violation of her fundamental right to medical care.

This is cruelty, it is neglect, and it is a damning moral and legal failure.

Sen. Booker just broke the record for the longest floor speech in Senate history—a record set by Strom Thurmond trying to block the Civil Rights Act. The irony ain’t lost on us. From fighting against justice to fighting for it. This is what courage & being on the right side of history looks like!

Two weeks ago, I demanded answers from the Trump administration over the detention and attempted deportation of Mahmoud Khalil.

They failed to respond and gave no reasonable grounds for Khalil’s detention. That's unacceptable.

I remember reading this story in the early days of COVID of moms meeting in a field just to scream... can we bring that back? Mutual Aid and activism are key parts of my survival right now but I also need a scream space. Or to meet ppl in the woods to do witchcraft. I'll take either really. Or both

Today at work we lost our funding for an early learning program we've been doing for 15+ years. Because, you know, supporting our youngest learners and families is woke. Just another reminder that the GOP doesn't give a shit about poor or working families. Are we great yet?

If this doesn't chill you to the bone, it should. So many more people will be disappeared by this administration.
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

Mahmoud Khalil is only the first case in Trump’s war against free speech — and it certainly won’t be the last.

He’s using an authoritarian playbook to silence any and all dissenting voices. We must fight back.

When abusive people do something very wrong, they will always follow it by pretending it was no big deal or even that it didn’t happen. Leaving you to feel a lot of rage, confusion, and self doubt about your own decisions. Like—should you stay or go?

The parallels make themselves, guys.

Some days I feel like I need the working professional mom version of the makeover Ally Sheedy got in the Breakfast Club. I never learned how to do eye makeup that's not heavy, smudged and dark and while mostly I'm fine with that, sometimes I feel like I need options.... Tutorials, anyone?
