Accessibility automation, Mobile iOS/Android A11y

Enforcing the usage of semantic/native elements as part of your dev lifecycle makes cleaner code and helps with #Accessibility.

If you want to build better devs, start with the basics. Using semantic/native elements and enforcing those practices!!

Thinking of doing a talk on “Effective #Accessibility data”

I think one gap I’ve seen in business world are people just taking automated numbers, sharing it and saying “there’s progress”. When there is so much more you can do to drive #A11y via data.

Goal for 2026. More article writing less talking. I genuinely miss writing and I forgot how much I love to share my knowledge and stuff I’ve been messing around with

So I plan to write as many articles as I possibly can in 2026!

Tried vibe coding an app using Claude. It wasn't too terrible from #Accessibility perspective, until we got to CSS and we had no focus indicators and all color contrast was a disaster...

I feel the need to say this again, automated #Accessibility testing can help accelerate getting a culture of #A11y built into your development lifecycle. It DOES NOT fully catch all issues, and full assessments are still need to ensure your website or mobile application is accessible for everyone.

I've set up a small monthly newsletter called Focus State.

With accessibility support shrinking in a lot of orgs, I wanted to create something that divides that gap, builds community, and makes the internet a bit more fun.

If you dig digital accessibility give it a look:

Anytime the Trump admin says they are doing some design thing, here is what they are doing: removing accessibility.

Designs that work for fewer Americans is their explicit goal.
"The existing NDS sites therefore behave more like billboards than public infrastructure. ... What makes this shift hardest to justify is that the federal government already had ... [an] office whose job was to actually make government UX work better. From 2014 to 2025, that work lived inside 18F."

I made a Chrome extension that swaps Times New Roman for Calibri on every site or just .gov. It also had Open Sans and Open Dyslexic, because f**k these people.

I’m waiting for Google’s approval for it to install automatically, but you can download it and install it in 90 seconds. Instructions 👇
