Come for the cat, stay for the science education!
Found in a YouTube comments section:
“I have had multiple conversations with friends about how we would rather have a vet than a doctor because we'd a) be given cheese, b) told that we're a beautiful fluffball, and c) be told how good we were for not biting anyone”

A reminder to all military personnel, and everyone, really, that “I was just following orders” is not a defence. There is an entire chain of command in the US military whose integrity has been compromised by these actions. They committed, or were complicit in, the murder of unarmed civilians.

Cue: Governments around the world frantically changing their public health guidelines to remove references to the CDC.
About the combined MMR and varicella vaccine (MMRV), ACIP has just voted to *not* recommend MMRV before the age of 4 years.

This will not change access to MMR and varicella separately.

Yes. Think of the disability costs if they acknowledged that Covid is in schools. Instead they put school staff in crowded classrooms without PPE and then when we get sick deny the existence of Long Covid. Teachers are second only to healthcare workers when it comes to Long Covid in Canada.

New review in BMJ by @nicktsergas.ca: "Why scientists are rethinking the immune effects of SARS-CoV-2"

"People who are unwilling to consider the possibility of immune damage are perhaps driven by a fear of what those answers might mean."

The same thing goes for environmental stories. If plastics recycling is so easy, why do we make such a big deal when someone actually finds a way to recycle it?

For something to be an interesting news story, it has to be rare.
This goes for a lot of things, really. Crime (remember the big shoplifting craze), poisoned Halloween candy, immigration, you name it.

The single best piece of advice for media literacy is: when you see a story ask yourself, how much of this is actually happening?

Sometimes you don’t even need to correspond with the author. Their email address says it all.

What people who haven’t experienced it don’t understand is that, if you’re poor, you pay with your time and your dignity. Even if the program is “free”, if it’s means-tested, you have to give up part of yourself in order to access it.
Essentially 100% of patients I see for substance use are on Medicaid (or uninsured & working to get on Medicaid). Most cannot afford their lifesaving medications without coverage & I’ve seen devastating results from coverage lapses in the past. This bill’s new “requirements” are going to kill people
