Meanwhile in Canada, the ever-whinging leader of the fed Cons had his butt handed to him (after 20 yrs) in the last election & now got himself elected b/c a goon stepped aside in a safe enough riding where he only ‘moved’ to like 5 mins ago. How is that legal? Dude, you tried, you lost, get over it.

Wooow, Cheetoh-in-Chief demanding another black woman resign her position of power? Funny how that keeps happening. And the organization she heads is meant to be independent of any/all interference. Nothing but top-down corruption for all the world to see.

I can’t be alone in thinking that the #OldGuard2’s only purpose was to serve as a token reminiscent of the previous one only to get to the next one. I liked the overall story idea, but as far as execution, heart or soul went, it all felt superficial at best. More’s the pity b/c #TheOldGuard slayed!

There are two sorts of people who want AI:

1. People who are too lazy to bother learning to draw, write, play a musical instrument, edit a video, record a voice over, etc.

2. Billionaires who want to get even richer even more quickly.

The rest of us hate it.

My legs feel a little lead-like today after a “moderate” hike - to my very first flipping #glacier! It felt great & the rocks in #KananaskisCountry are simply WOW! Only two puffs up the Rawson Lake Trail, hiking poles, ‘tired pony trudge’ on the many steep bits, bug spray & the rest was alright.

I know it's Friday afternoon, and there's a lot going on, but everyone needs to read this article.

I've read multiple pieces on how ChatGPT is giving people delusions, but this is the wildest by far. It told a man he could safely jump off a building! 1/4

Such a big loophole. This taxation blooper means it pays for developers to leave properties vacant, and decayed. This needs to be fixed.

Remember this next election when Poilievre is trying to convince you we're living in a crime-ridden shithole.
Vancouver Police Chief Steve Rai today said "crime is at an all-time low in the city ... the city is safer."

Added "the perception of crime diverges from the reality of crime. This is a safe, safe city."

In this special edition of Talking Climate, I take a fresh look at the rise of climate doomerism—why it’s spreading, what the science says, and why giving up is the only thing that will guarantee our failure.

While he celebrates himself, we’ll be fighting for science — and for the lives and futures of the American people.

While measles wasn't widely discussed at the time because the number of deaths had already declined, it was still serious. Vaccination has helped prevent the disease and avoid its severe consequences.

It’s a privilege to be a first audience of ‘friends & fam’ for a company’s Dress Rehearsal. And when the show already has legs at this point + cast & crew are having fun in the moment you just can’t help yourself from thinking “I can’t wait for audiences to also enjoy this!”. DPG does it again!

Hey, #CanadianTaxpayerFederation, hands off Dr Daniel Vigo - have you SEEN this guy’s CV? The work he’s doing for the Province in relation to mental health (perpetually underfunded & underprioritised) will save lives not only in BC and save taxpayer dollars in the long run!!

Tiny conundrum: two free-range neighbourhood 🐈‍⬛ are loudly not getting along (I might even know one of them), but it’s a ridiculous idea: rando w/a headlamp looking for cats at midnight on a Tuesday?! Esp considering I am crap at determining which direction sounds come from. I do hope they sort it. 🤞

Outsourcing copy editing of someone who writes for a living to a machine that, by design, writes like the median writer across all sorts of media is a terrible idea.

The point of copy editing is to make the writer's own writing better, not to make it indistinguishable from any other writer's.
Academia in 2025: For weeks I’ve been working through botched copy-edits of my monograph, outsourced by the publisher to a company I’d never heard of, until it finally dawned on me the terrible job might be AI. A quick search confirmed the company recently launched new AI software, which now means..

what we eat

what we drive

what we wear

or any other aspect of our personal carbon footprint.

Our VOICES are the most powerful force we have to change the world.
