Sometimes I remember I'm supposed to be promoting this thing. I'm proud of it. If you're into incantatory grief poetry, given to the rushed wallowing of modernity, or find yourself searching for the fragile stillness between trauma and music, you might like it.

If you want someone to listen to you, in Irish you say "Éist liom," but it doesn't translate as "listen to me," it translates as "listen *with* me."

The difference says quite a bit.

There was a time when 90% of Americans would have understood how deranged in every conceivable way a post like this is

I mean if you showed this to any American in 2001 they wouldn't even understand what they were looking at or what sort of deranged creature could possibly speak like this in public

Sorry for sharing a post from the other website, I know, but JCO's remarks on that website's owner feel like something that'll be narrated over the end credits of a Musk biopic.

Of all the destinations on our mad whirlwind of a honeymoon, I was least excited about Rome.

So of course I fell in love with it.

Jazz singers on boat bars, ancient architecture, plant kiosks by the Spanish Steps, delicious food. There's just a bit of magic there.

I've been thinking about this email from Manchán Magan a lot today. Validation is hard to come by, I guess.

I wasn't expecting him to actually read my book, much less respond. Sure wish I'd had a chance to meet him.

Absolutely correct
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

I've always liked you on a personal level. This is unforgivable. You caved on nothing but their word, which is worth nothing. You gave the 1% a trillion dollars in tax breaks. You cost hundreds of thousands of people their health insurance.

Shameful day for Virginians.

The pro-Palestine group Within Our Lifetime has already decided that Zohran Mamdani has sold out the pro-Palestine cause... by condemning swastikas drawn on a Jewish day school in Brooklyn. forward.com/culture/7822...
Mamdani's first statement on antisemitism as mayor-elect got some weird pushback
After someone spraypainted a swastika on a yeshiva, Zohran Mamdani condemned antisemitism. Somehow, this generated conspiracy theories.

This isn't the easiest time to be Jewish in America. But now—and for a long time—it's been significantly harder to be Muslim.

Barring Jews from government was one of the Nazis' signature moves. Every American Jew has an obligation to speak out against the new Nazis trying to do the same to Muslims.

A terrorist targeted federal workers last week. There wasn’t much reporting on it. But I’m not finished thinking about it! 🧵

An anti-vaxxer fired more than 500 gunshots into CDC Atlanta, shattering 150 “blast-proof” windows on 6 buildings. Employees were pinned down in terror.

The regime is pivoting their messaging in wake of that totally not-a-referendum-on-Trump election. They'll now be focusing on affordability.

The problem is, despite the braindrain, people will still notice when they're out of cash. I'm pretty sure.

I watched The History of Sound last night and I cannot hardly think of anything else. An achingly beautiful melody that pierces the heart of human experience. It is queer and rural and worldly. It is universal and personal. It is one of the best films I've seen. Ever.

The Jewish Zionist camp is claiming that liberals have betrayed the Jews by electing Mamdani, yet are meanwhile silent as their Christofascist "friends" host avowed neo-Nazis and support for Israel falls drastically among conservatives due to actual antisemitism (rather than humanitarian conscience)
