Me being interviewed for HBO Inside the Episode: For this episode it was important to me as the writer to convey my clawing sense of desperation to remain employed. I titled the episode “42” because TV writing jobs are down 42% this year. Please renew us. I can’t go back out there. It’s Armageddon.

I don’t know why I’m stunned. They did what they said they would do. But I’m still stunned.

Same as it ever was…
Under Fascism, the state makes sweeping changes (sold as an attack on waste, fraud, and abuse) in the name of efficiency…and “the trains will run on time!”

I didn’t realize we had run into you…
My well-meaning spouse to a stranger: Your kids are ADORABLE btw!

The parent: Oh thank you so much.

The parent’s eyes: You don’t know. You don’t know the atrocities committed by these pint-sized Colonel Kurtzes. I have endured a million thorny tyrannies. MY SOUL
SCREAMS UNANSWERED FOR LIBERATION.

Nothing like asbestos remediation in the office next to mine. This is much better than working from home. /s

It appears my book wasn’t part of LibGen but one of the papers I’ve written is.

For anyone watching, I still have my job for now. Admittedly I haven’t checked my email since Friday afternoon. Logging in tomorrow morning will be soon enough…

Our group has been playing long enough that one of the players was new to two of us. Since then they met someone, dated them, married them, and their partners in the campaign now.
How long has your ttrpg group played together?

2️⃣️ 6 months - 1 year

Hey, spread the word. @mapquest.com is still around, they have an App, and they aren’t changing the name of the Gulf. $2/month for ad free but it’s looking promising in the ad-sponsored version now.

I’ve got a bad feeling about this.

I can confirm. Being someone who has no artistic or creative skills to speak of but deeply appreciates the creativity of others AND being in the middle of this shitstorm, it really does help.
It may feel weird or somehow improper to talk about your art or your writing, but we need it. It can’t be wall-to-wall nightmare all the time. Art is both counterweight and context. It’s escape and enlightenment and a mirror of our own exasperation. We need it. We NEED it. Keep showing us.

Don’t be silent and let the fragile racist, sexist, and everything-phobic people win.
Don’t let these folks (who have been and are 100% using “DEI” as a racial slur) be the only parent voices in the room/convo. Wherever you are, especially if you have the privilege, get in the mix and help teachers and librarians push back. This is the most vile censorship and it’s getting worse.
Got my first "Violating an Executive Order" and "I'll make sure you lose federal funding" parent threat today for teaching "DEI" books in our upcoming "Liberty and Justice" themed unit. Even in "Blue" Massachusetts we're dealing with this.

Anyway, don't obey in advance, and don't obey later.

They are going through the halls at work tearing down allyship posters and anything that is has anything remotely celebrating people of diverse backgrounds. It’s awful.
I know Rose, and this SUCKS.

Interestingly, however, it's still on the NASA site *in Spanish*.

I’m not sure which is the best part of being back in a government building full time. The mice and other critters in the building such that you have to be careful with food? The water they recommend you don’t drink? The doors you can’t open because of asbestos? The wonky temperature swings?

Hey. Stop apologizing for promoting your book. You see all these “writing is resistance! write, make art!” posts that have been going viral like every day around here? Promoting the book you wrote so people know it exists is supposed to be the end result of that. You’re fine. Just promote your book.

I can’t say this enough. The federal workforce is under attack and while I feel like the congress people from VA and MD care about the matter, I think the other 48 states really don’t care. When you’re making calls, please remember us.

As I was complying with the order I received today to remove my pronouns from my work email I was reminded of this again.
Imagine being afraid of pronouns.

Helping with an invitational Science Olympiad event at University of Maryland today. Gives me a little hope for the future of science and engineering in this country. Needed that today.
