Even if Bovino gets fired, ICE has to go.
Even if Noem is out, ICE has to go.
Even when Trump leaves office, ICE has to go.

As protests grow and ICE's popularity drops, we may see concessions and leadership changes, like Bovino's departure. ICE still has to go.

I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...

Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.

This is bad not just because of the direct infections but there's growing research that suggests vaccines also stave off things (like dementia) that we don't typically associate with vaccine prevention.
One of the things I was most worried about is starting to come to fruition.

RFK Jr. will succeed in eliminating all of our vaccines if allowed to remain in office. His disinformation campaign and the falling demand for vaccines will cause American companies to stop making them.

Recently, I was trying to pinpoint the One Piece of Work that really started my love of comics.

Only just now, I'm realizing I was struggling to think of it because it wasn't ONE artist: it was this anthology series. It was *multiple* artists. So happy to find out that they've been reprinted!
Were you aware:
Random House has been reprinting the FLIGHT comics anthologies!

That award-winning, best-selling comics artist you like? Their earliest work is probably in FLIGHT.

If this works tomorrow, it won't be because a general strike is easier than we all thought.

It will be because the twin cities went all in on community and built a path to a place the rest of us still can't reach... Yet.

After voting no, I took it one step further and changed my default browser to the noai.duckduckgo.com search that they provide a link to when they show the poll's results

ID from quote: poll results between "yes" and "no" on AI in DuckDuckGo's search engine. Yes: 6% No: 94%
I’m not keen on the fact that DuckDuckGo already has AI search, but I’m very glad it’s optional.

But what if we vote no so hard they drop AI entirely?

I only have the fire left to embroider! I'm working on making a square hoop out of PVC pipe so I can work on it all at once, but I'm still waiting on the final parts for that.

In the meantime, I'm gonna figure out the lining on this thing

Here's how it turned out!

The Droid Depot patch is extremely re-enforced. It's an iron-on patch, but I've sewn it on in addition to ironing it on. It's on top of a wider patch of fabric, which in turn has been thoroughly sewn onto the hoodie itself.

See also: "stupid", "idiotic", "idiot", etc.

As well as "dumb" and "lame", while we're at it.

OP makes an excellent point about substitutes for these insults being used to further stigmatize and belittle intellectual disability, and how we shouldn't automatically equate that with "bad".
I’m seeing increased use of this word and I just want to gently suggest that if there’s one word you can manage to remove from your vocabulary it should be this one.

It was coined by a eugenicist who used it as a diagnosis to forcibly institutionalize and sterilize mentally disabled people.
The Origins of the Word "Moron" Are Actually REALLY Sinister
It's much more than just a casual insult.

I had the great fortune of growing up with teachers who refused to capitulate to a growing conservative slant in education, and lemme tell ya - if absolutely made me furious and angry and who I am today. I NEVER felt guilty for the sins of my forefathers. that's a conservative ideal, not progressive
This is my song. “Those are the real stakes — not white children feeling guilty, but white children armed with truth, history and a righteous desire to work with others to change the world.”

Hard to believe I've been working on my rat king piece for at least a month, with a month left on my deadline.

I'm an estimated 80 hours in on this thing. Regrettably, I haven't been doing a great job at keeping track of how long the embroidery part of it takes

Wrote this for many reasons, partly because the u.s. civil war so often gets portrayed as neat lines of blue and grey shooting at each other, just as neatly separate from current upheaval or how conflicts play out now.

And... no. Absolutely not. It is so much more interesting and relevant than that
As wrong lessons are constantly drawn from it, remember the U.S. civil war era was decades of conflict over the slave power with a giant war in the middle. Some of that war was conventional. *A lot* of it wasn't.

Insurgencies, riots, mass strikes, assassinations, coups all played a major role.

It's vital that we acknowledge the racism and violence that has ALWAYS been integral to the USA: a settler colony built on genocide, land theft and the most horrendous chattel slavery ever known.
To treat current ICE/policing as exceptional ignores centuries of suffering and compounds the harm.

Doing a lil extra work on a mending/mod project for a friend.
These are going onto both of the sleeve cuffs on a hoodie, which has had a logo covered up by a Droid Depot patch.

2-strand backstitch with 1-strand detail, sometimes using whipped backstitch
