What I don't understand is how unemployment could possibly be truly 4.3% in the light of all of this information. It doesn't make sense.

Fall is when farmers apply for credit and other assistance ahead of spring planting. The federal shutdown means they can't.

It's the JOB of journalists to ASK QUESTIONS, like "is any of what this government, with its long history of lies and fabrications, is claiming actually TRUE? Is there any reason at all to believe any of this?"
