This was a bribe.

UAE royals gave the Trump family $500 million, and Trump, in his presidential capacity, gave them access to tightly guarded American AI chips.

The most powerful person on the planet, also happens to be the most shamelessly corrupt.

Hey everyone, you’re not going to be able to find anyone qualified to help take care of your aging parents/grandparents. Remember to thank Trump and Vance.
What ICE is doing with its horrific assault and ban on immigration absolutely goes hand in hand with the attack on Medicaid, especially for HCBS.

Not because they are using these benefits, but rather because they are supporting them, both through labor and taxes paid.

FLAG: Federal agents were told this week that they have broader power to arrest people without a warrant, according to an internal ICE memo reviewed by NYT.

The change expands the ability of lower-level ICE agents to carry out sweeps rounding up people they suspect are undocumented immigrants.

It's no surprise why the US is "backsliding" fast: Putin is desperate in Ukraine and needs help.

Trump's problem is, he picked a tough speed. It works to go slower and gradually erode rights, as in Orban's Hungary. Or faster, to dominate and cause terror, as in Hitler's Germany. In between is hard.
New from me: It is not just that the US is experiencing democratic backsliding. Authoritarianism has emerged more quickly than in other benchmark countries.

This graph from John Burn-Murdoch sums it up. 🧵

SHUT IT THE FUCK DOWN THEN!!!!
The arrests of Don Lemon and Georgia Fort underscore the gravity of this moment. This has never happened before in our history. We shouldn't pretend it's normal.

More reason for us to hold the line and demand a DHS budget that stops funding lawlessness.

“Defund ICE or we’ll close the airports and the coast guard” is a better rallying cry than “Defund ICE or we’ll starve disabled people and kick patients off life saving clinical trials.” That’s why separating DHS out is important.

I'm calling bullshit on the media narrative that Trump is "pivoting" and "deescalating" on his ICE raids. The threshold is this: As long as the military occupations and the treatment of US cities as enemy territory continue, there's no pivot. ICE out. 1/

Donald Trump Is Frightened
Trump wants to appear eager to minimize out-of-control clashes between government militias and protesters. But he doesn’t want to stop the things causing those clashes in the first place.

Dear DHS: You need to implement an immediate operational stand down of ICE and Border Patrol interior operations so your agents can learn basic stuff, like the fact that the First Lady of the United States is an American citizen even though she has an accent.
CNN airs unearthed footage of a Border Patrol agent harassing a ride share driver:

"If you were from this country, you would know I'm an immigration officer... I can hear you don't have the same accent as me."

Here’s the list of demands Dems are seeming to agree on to fund the govt. Dems don’t have the power to defund ICE b/c it’s funded by the Big Ugly Bill. I agree ICE can’t be reformed & must be abolished, but restrictions are all we have until we get the majority. Senator Chris Murphy explains below.
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

Bovino is just the patsy - a noxious and odious fall guy. Stephen Miller is the architect and prime mover of the whole thing. Everything they do is at his direction - often after his threats. As long as he runs policy in the WH, nothing will change no matter how many Bovinos come and go.
