I love words, soaking them up and writing them down. The smell of leaf mould and green things sprouting. The texture of bark. Fussing song birds, and the roar and drama of wind and waves. And humans; complex like layers of rock laid down over millennia.
Say it loud, say it clear, Robinson’s not welcome here. So good to be shoulder to shoulder with the community of Newcastle today. The far right aren’t welcome in my toon.

Newcastle says no to fascism.

The far right brought a hundred or so with them, bussed from far and wide. This city turned out 1000s, from local communities, estates and streets. Geordies of all backgrounds coming together and outnumbering the purveyors of hate by some distance.

Newcastle united.

Stair climb day 2. Apologies to anyone who's thoroughly bored of this by now. Please rest assured, I will soon be back to my normal waffle about writing craft, sharing wonderful flash fiction and moaning about my health...

#MattsStairClimbChallenge
Right... ok... today's the first day of my stair climb challenge 😬 Going to be posting updates throughout the day. You may want to mute me 😂

#MattsStairClimbChallenge

About to attempt my first few climbs.

In March the UN agreed to a Global Ocean Treaty to protect 30% of our oceans by 2030. Currently <3% is properly protected. The UK Govt pushed for the Treaty & should support a ban on deep sea mining immediately. Join me in calling on David Lammy to deliver global ocean protection now. act.gp/44M8iQA

#GeorgiaProtests, Day 124!

The scene in Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi tonight.

One of the most remarkable & sustained protest movements in modern European history.

Non-stop, for 124 days, the Georgian people have been fighting regime violence, Russian influence & authoritarianism.

One reason I still wear a mask when I travel is cause you literally cannot trust people not to get on a plane with measles
