The @rpa.org has a really good report on reduced transit fares for low-income households across the country.

Unfortunately, these programs do not enroll all the people who are theoretically qualified to use them.

The report recommends implementing auto-enrollment practices rpa.org/work/reports...

You can’t script it. The Mariners are willed to victory by Humpy the fish finally winning his first race in the middle of the 15th inning. The crowd chants “Humpy Humpy” as the trident crosses off the ALDS win.

I just can't get over the differences in scale between Ballard Link's Westlake Station as proposed and the original Westlake Station, off to the left.

Lots of people riding the 1 Line tonight, with 80,000 sports fans in town. The meter queue was organized but people were still cutting the line.

Happy 25th birthday to Sounder (specifically the S Line)! The long journey to Everett-Seattle-Tacoma-Lakewood trains is chronicled here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sounder...

I keep going back to this slide shown to the Sound Transit board this month, showing how "capacity building" means consulting firms, more consulting firms, and more subcontractors.

We now have the project-level breakdowns for Sound Transit 3 light rail projects, outlining the $20-$30 billion shortfall the agency is facing through 2046.

Ballard Link's 2025 $ estimate is now $22.6 billion, a full 90% increase.

The Boeing Access Road infill station is now at $475 million.

Two amazing sights, all at one moment:

“At nearly the same moment the railcar first entered the I-90 bridge from the Mercer Island side, 11:49 p.m., a thick shower of sparks streaked high above the park, from an apparent meteor.”

I’ve spent the better part of two decades dealing with people trying to dox and harass the volunteers who make Wikipedia the incredible resource it is today.

I liked it better when they weren’t in Congress.

A midday Sounder arrival at King Street Station. Would really love to see more than just one train between peak hours.

A tip: just because a transit agency called "Metro" provides an image of "Madison BRT" does not mean it's Madison, Wisconsin. (I've ridden both Madison BRTs, in Madison and Seattle!) cleantechnica.com/2024/12/03/m...

This is an auto-alignment point used by trolleybuses to switch from ESS (battery) to on-wire (OCS) operations.

The operator drives up to a predetermined alignment marking, hits a button, and both poles automatically extend to contact the wires.
