So it’s an emergency to put on tariffs that make your food more expensive, but not an emergency to fund SNAP that makes your food cheaper. Great, got it.

Justice Kavanaugh: "and those individuals may promptly go free after making clear to the immigration officers that they are U.S. citizens or otherwise legally in the United States."

The incident unfolded Saturday in Chicago’s Old Irving Park neighborhood, where residents say federal agents disrupted a children’s Halloween parade

It’s hard to convey just how much Chicagoans are mobilizing against ICE. Don’t want to downplay the harm, or make it seem like a fair fight. But in neighborhoods across this city, ICE is getting chased by people blowing whistles and shouting. People are running TOWARD ICE to protect their neighbors.

He sent a mob to destroy Congress and took a bulldozer to the White House, and that’s extremely relevant context for any Supreme Court analysis this term.

Well, there it is. Sinclair is digging in for a fight, so please help push back -- find stations in your area, watch their local news to see what ads they run, then write those advertisers to tell them you're boycotting as long as they're on a Sinclair station.

I’m reposting all the Russ crossbar jokes, I know it’s unbecoming of a 1-2 team averaging like 18 points and 12 penalties a game, but we need this and he played in Denver, so whatever.

“The government sometimes makes brief, investigative stops to check the immigration status of those who gather in locations where people are hired for day jobs such as construction, landscaping, agriculture or car washes…and who do not speak much if any English.”

One day after the Supreme Court lifted the ban on racial profiling, federal agents swarmed a car in Van Nuys.

Four masked agents with guns drawn yanked people out, slammed them to the ground, and pointed a weapon at a pregnant woman.

There is no justification for this. None.

Old enough to remember when we gutted the Voting Rights Act because it offended certain states—the same ones doing the invading right now.
If it’s under Title 32 authority, the Texas guard remains under state control.

That would mean that one state is deploying armed forces into the territory of a non-consenting state.

And that’d clearly be a violation of the principle that states are co-equal, territorially limited sovereigns.
this is almost certainly under Title 32 authorities (meaning the TX guard will be nominally under TX state control but on a federal mission), meaning the posse comitatus issues that came up in California will not apply. that said, it raises a whole lot of other legal problems

There’s an undecided petition AT THIS VERY MOMENT, sitting on the shadow docket, asking the nine to allow ICE to racially profile people who look Latino, speak Spanish, are day laborers, or else work in low-wage service jobs.

More people in Ohio need protection from violent crime than there are people in D.C.
Governors of three states — Ohio, South Carolina and West Virginia — are sending members of their state National Guards to D.C. to … well, theoretically to combat crime but, if the past week is any in...

For those out there saying "crime is a real problem, but this isn't the answer," you're 100% right, and: we also need to emphasize the mix of solutions, many non-criminal, that have led to the historic decreases in crime that we've seen, even and *especially* in blue cities and states. Why? 1/3
