I lost 350 lbs, now officially a third of the man I used to be! IT guy, hiker, sunset appreciator.

Perhaps thinking that it is a shame that I cannot somehow both sleep and look at my phone at the same time is a sign of a deeper problem.

I heard the flat buzz of 2-stroke engines farting their way down Mulholland and I assumed it was a bunch of kids on dirt bikes doing a street takeover, but no, it was nerds on vintage Vespa scooters, all of them glinting in the sun with their cream enamel paint jobs and tasteful accessories.

I quit the Alexa Plus early access program and put it back to the way it was. I felt a little like Big Chief smothering Randall P. McMurphy, but it had to be done. It was telling me the wrong dates for events, screwing up home automation stuff, just not reliable.

I’m not sure what it says about me that the thing Facebook ads is pushing me the hardest I can recall in years (harder than the fancy office chairs and CPAPs!) is a Slavoj Žižek lecture in Los Angeles, but here we are.

I swear to God this just happened, young man is walking up the fire road at Runyon next to me and he sees a sign that says “Fire Road” and he says “Fire road? What’s so fire about it? His companion says “ fire like fire engines.” And then the young man goes “Oh.” By the way I am now 200 years old.

The more I think about it, the more I live, I find the true dividing line between good and evil is power. What do you do with it when you have it? Who do you help? Who do you hurt? Nothing else really matters.

The fact that I got the blue category in today’s Connections first is perhaps the strongest statement of LGBTQ+ allyship I have ever made.

Sounds like ICE killed a guy and then held american citizens hostage at gunpoint until they agreed to destroy the evidence
Our staff is on the ground supporting families. Many workers-including US citizens, were held by federal authorities at the farm for 8 hours or more. US citizen workers report only being released after they were forced to delete photos and videos of the raid from their phones. 4/

If Centrist Democrats had worked as hard to defeat Trump as they’re working to defeat Zohran Mamdani we wouldn’t be in this mess. Jesus Christ this guy wins elections, maybe let him do it.

Hey LA why do we do this to ourselves every year? It really is awful. The city becomes unlivable the night of the Fourth of July, and the air becomes poisonous the day after.

Los Angeles Bluesky users, tonight is an excellent chance to see the space station before Elon plunges it into the ocean. Rises in SW at 8:52 PM, and crosses the sky very fast until it sets around 9:01 in NE. Magnitude -3.6, so brighter than anything but Venus and the moon. #science #iss

I have to say that walking through Runyon Canyon with a bag of dog treats is about the closest I will ever come to feeling like Frank Sinatra peeling off hundreds to every maitre’d in Vegas. I command a kind of respectful attention from both the dogs and ravens that I find I enjoy.

Just watched a private security company‘s CyberTruck (painted up like some combination of a Stealth fighter and the Thin Blue Line itself) execute an extraordinarily painful 11 point turn on a narrow hillside road, and it was exactly as ridiculous as you’re thinking.

BITBOY ALERT: The fires here in Los Angeles have me going over cloud backup strategies intensely. I have learned that @backblaze.bsky.social no longer backs up locally available files in OneDrive - a change they did not communicate to users. This renders it useless for true cloud backup & archiving.

Just saw a Maybach and a Cybertruck almost have a head-on collision on a narrow street because neither of them would give way and I don’t know who to root for except for the end of civilization as we know it.

When I was in high school at Sidwell Friends in DC a kid got to see a preview before anybody else and spent the next day spoiling this reveal for anyone in his vicinity. He's probably in the Trump administration now.
Watching quietly from behind the screen now as the few students who have never seen this film are about to get the surprise of our lives.
