Indie/games aren’t dead. The white men with funding are done mixing with us rabble and are taking their toys away, thinking they can replace us with AI. I’m not sure pretending this isn’t the case is helping anyone get funding either. It truly, like US pol rn, looks like burning it all out of spite.

to say it plainly: everyone was all about indie when only white men with access to Steam and other resources that allow you to focus on your art project were doing it in the 2010s. Now that others have broken in, funding has magically dried up and the industry is “dead”, according to the same guys.

Why am I so against generative AI in games?
Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

Please help my friend's kitty if you can! Poor Cora has been through a lot this year with surgery to remove a section of her colon due to cancer concerns and was a long time stray before that.
