I’m sure they think “their own people” matter.

It’s just their own people are the 1%, not the 99%
From outside the US, we applaud the country that walked on the moon, but feel pity for the only OECD country without universal healthcare. Don't your own people matter?

Lovely shot
Showing @boyfrombruce.bsky.social around Gluepot was a lot of fun ... even though last night's minimum was -3.2. Brrr!
But the best thing was getting a lifer.
I've looked for striated grasswrens there many times.
Finally got lucky today!

Born to rule LNP candidates complain that Australians aren’t voting for them go into meltdown and start throwing toys out of the cot.

Their stance on Gaza was a big positive in their campaign as far as I'm concerned.

My biggest complaint about them was letting Chandler-Mather run free with his WRONG ideas about how to fix housing, and his load mouth self serving “look at me” presentations. Supporting LNP with his BS was too far
The mainstream political/media class is working in unison to entrench the narrative that the reason the Greens lost their seats (ignoring the fact that they increased their vote) was because they're antisemites (which they're not).

I imagine the media, which constantly refers to ‘Climate200-backed Teals’, will henceforth be referring to Wilson as ‘Zionist-backed Tim Wilson’.

He is a slimy little twat.

Assumed wife& I (she had to retire very early due to health & has virtually no super &mine isn’t flash-had to retire 10 years early to look after her) would never qualify forpension but thought should see if we qual. for health card.
Visited Centrelink. Not a hope in hell of ever getting H card even
Quite possibly the dumbest thing printed today. Apparently, the age pension is amazing - a couple on it are nearly millionaires!!! (if it was paid in a lump sum and we make a whole stack of assumptions and also we fart through our ears)

They had to use the salary of teh Canadian Ambassador’s wife, who was working as a research scientist in Iran, to pay for it all. Clearly a lovely Australian Lady.
Who hid Americans during the 1979 hostage crisis? Canada. 🇨🇦 👊🏻

That is to enrol to vote. Once you’re on the role that’s it.

Rock up to the polling place on (or increasingly, before) election day and you’ll be asked for your name, address and whether "you have voted at this election before”.

No proof required, just take the House of Reps & senate ballot paper

Of course in Australia it’s vote on Saturday (or before, we’ve opened polling places) or you’ll get fined.

We realise voting is a privilege, but also regard it as a responsibility, so it’s compulsory.
Vote tomorrow, or I will hunt you down! Ha ha! 😘😍❤️

Australia votes in Federal Election on Saturday and we expect the same acceptance of the result.

Mind you we use a much more secure system than the American computer systems. It’s call "pencil & paper"

And we don’t need to show I.D.
Canadians will vote tomorrow in the most emotional election since 1988. I have my own preference. But I note: no one doubts that the vote will be free and fair - or that the loser will peacefully accept the voters' decision. That may not sound much. It's more than others have.

Goes with trams that can only run on 1/2 the lines(raising q in parl about why they didn’t ask Melb.) ferries that can’t go under bridges on Parramatta River.Other new ferries full of asbestos they couldn’t be used(not sure where that’s at)& Ferries that can’t dock at Manly unless it’s high tide.
The Mariyung Fleet cost $2bn but did not fit through Sydney's tunnels so are currently mothballed at Lithgow.

Owww, that’s not fair. I went to a State co-educational High School and was 2 years younger than my class mates.

So 16yr old in year 12 and in Aus (Victoria at least ) drivers licences obtained at 18. I had no hope
I was never Catholic, but I went to an all-girl Catholic school. This is accurate.

I’ve been reading that Thorium reactors (cleaner than conventional reactors) have been "coming soon” for 20 years, so I’m hoping it’s getting close but I’m betting it’s still decades from practical application
I suspect I'll make myself unpopular again, but I welcome this. Small modular reactors make decarbonising heavy industrial processes; hydrogen production; grid balancing and other tasks easier. We don't need to choose between SMRs and renewables. We can have both.
