Previously on My Life Called So, in March '23, I quit Twitter and have been on Mastodon alone until today. Here, I'll chat w/ friends and promote projects. (I don't want to use Masto mods' limited resources for my BSP.) I also still blog, mainly at geraldso.blogspot.com.

I want Sam Darnold to win a Super Bowl not to show the Jets they were wrong about him. The Jets perennially have so many needs, they can't make the best of good players. They seem to be assembling a good staff around Aaron Glenn at the moment, though.

Not much snow today, but extreme cold. I always say, "At least it's not snowing," but in this case I'd prefer snow if it came w/ temps around 30 F.

There was a time I rooted for the Patriots, when Bill Parcells was head coach. I've never rooted for the Cowboys, even when Parcells was head coach.

It’s always really nice when you get a good review. But it’s even better when the reviewer really sees what you’re doing. Very grateful to Criminal Element for reading BIG SHOT.

Re Biffle plane crash, unqualified pilots are sporadically arrested right before flights. This being a private jet flight may have played a role in the unqualified Dennis and Jack Dutton being allowed to fly despite being illegal.

"The White House" is credited so a defender isn't singled out. "A staffer" is blamed so the person is neither named nor fired.

This is using the Dark Side of language.
Has "the White House" ever not tried to defend the POTUS's remarks and actions? I mean any POTUS ever.

I suppose when "the White House" releases no statement, that counts as not defending the POTUS.

Hey, all,

I know I've been pushing this hard this week, but I'd like as many people as possible to read this one. The positive response has been overwhelming!

Thanks to the RHP and Stone's Throw crew for making this story their choice for the month (and helping me make it kick ass).
THIS MONTH ON STONE'S THROW: Photographers say the camera helps distance them from their subjects. But sometimes it brings them even closer. Read @fugitivecourier.bsky.social's great story today: bit.ly/45EN7mS

You know this: Trump's racism gets more and more overt b/c the media and Congress and whomever else didn't shut him down earlier.

At times it doesn't seem the book business is about building readership generation after generation but about making money. Tall paperbacks and trade paperbacks cost more, lining someone's pockets, I'm sure.

I’ve said it before, but I wouldn’t be a writer without the cheap paperback rack at my local store. It was my library and my school, where I first read Stephen King, Gregory Mcdonald, and so many more. Gift link:

Are you truly against monarchy? I challenge you not to patronize any establishment with "King" or "Queen" in its name: Burger King, Smoothie King, Mattress King, King Kullen, Dairy Queen..."

I've always dismissed FOX News, but especially after it was legally declared "news entertainment" to accommodate opinion shows. News entertainment is literally not news.

NEW: The FDA won’t tell Americans where their generic drugs are made, so ProPublica built the Rx Inspector tool to show you.

Now a proposed bill would also require manufacturing location information on packaging for both generic and brand-name drugs.
The Clear Labels Act Would Change What You Know About Your Prescription Medication
The bill, introduced by Sens. Rick Scott and Kirsten Gillibrand, follows a bipartisan investigation that cited ProPublica’s reporting on dangerous foreign drugmakers and the medicine they continued…
