For those who will bear witness. For everyone who pretends there was benevolence from 'employers' & governments, and no slavery in Australia; who believes Tony Abbott's version of history. Debra Dank writes with beauty and anger of the truth we cannot dodge.

I used to work for BOM until January, looking after the system that supplies the data for public weather forecasts. It was obvious that the new website was going to be a disaster. But consultants always know better..

Rick Morton @squigglyrick.bsky.social has written article after article on the mismanagement of BOM stemming back to the Morrison years.
But who followed it up besides Rick? The current government sat on their hands and the rest of the media ignored it.
The Bureau of Meteorology’s new website was rushed out – years overdue and almost $47 million over budget – despite testing scores falling below the standard for release. Read more: satpa.pe/GSlS9rm

What strikes you most about the BOM website rewrite is that it was obviously done by non-specialists. They did not know or understand what matters, meteorologically.

As far as I can tell they have not rewritten A SINGLE TECHNICAL THING on the whole website. All of that is the old stuff, cobbled in.

Chris Uhlmann in The Oz on Friday in his climate change denial screed suggested that "No one can model the future".

And err what???

Chris seems to think that because he is ignorant of how something is done, that must mean it isn't real.

Apparently being against genocide, and calling for peace in Palestine is radical and undermines social cohesion.
But feeding anti-science, anti-government sentiments that end up in 'sovereign citizens' killing police officers is a totes OK business model.

A whistleblower who has been on very good behaviour from the beginning. No problem with that!
