Woke up at 2:30 am yesterday and both the Koels and the Channel Bills are going berserk.

They just like something to whinge about. I live in Central Queensland, where we are all labelled as red necks but there are plenty of people who don’t share these sorts of views.

After your excellent investigative reporting in 22, I expected this issue to gain traction, both politically and in the wider media. But aside from your follow up, there was little interest in BOM’s mismanagement

So they are either feigning ignorance or can’t read.

If you want a simple website with access to your local data and are not reliant on the radar, good for you. If you want a decent overview of what is going on around your state +/- country, the old website is far easier to navigate. Also the radar is much better.

I used to work for BOM until January, looking after the system that supplies the data for public weather forecasts. It was obvious that the new website was going to be a disaster. But consultants always know better..

There has been plenty of opportunity for the ABC to do some good investigative reporting on BOM. Did they find it too technical and boring? Was it too political for a LNP aligned ABC? Was there a cosy up between their respective managers?

The ABC can’t, or probably don’t want to, read the many articles written by @squigglyrick.bsky.social over the last three years. Today’s is a doozy with staff saying the release was rushed through before the arrival of the new CEO. Rick is the only reason I keep subscribing to the TSP.
