Pretty sure I hate this: got an email from a group “studying how AI helps scientists extend their work in new directions”, who had applied ‘custom’ AI models to a recent preprint of mine. Would I like to see the five extensions? Thanks, but no

There are 100s of 1000s of acres of NF lands that look like this (more every day) -- unnaturally heavy, continuous fuels created bc of logging practices, not from fire suppression -- ready to explode in the next fire event. Yet all we'll hear about is lack of logging and suppression as the problem.🌏
Forest Service Road, Deschutes National Forest. The trees are all crowded Lodgepole Pines, a result of logging old growth Ponderosa Pines in the previous century. Hauntingly beautiful and very dangerous in a fire prone landscape. #deschutesnationalforest

I’ve gotten used to seeing AB push polls but Alberta Next “consultation” is outrageous.

Just did the immigration one.

From the very first sentence being a lie (no, we don’t have an open border policy) to options all having nudges, a dumpster fire in survey design top to bottom.

Did you know that Canada is home to more lakes than the rest of the world combined? With over two million lakes, our country holds nearly 20% of the planet’s fresh water. From the iconic Great Lakes to alpine gems, there’s no shortage of beautiful places to paddle, fish, or just take in the view.

I always suspected that the “live free or die” folks south of the border had a pretty narrow zone of concern when it came to that concept, and their silence in the face of random arrests of actual US citizens speaks volumes

After a judicial recount the riding of Terrbonne has flipped back to the Liberals from the Bloc. The margin of victory is a single vote. One. Vote. LPC now at 170 seats with three more ridings being recounted this week. (LPC holds two of them so they could drop from 170 or go as high as 171)
