it’s becoming increasingly clear the goal of the far right is to defund and buy up every source of reliable information until there is no more objective reality to counter them

How are people always getting high quality stills or clips from tv/movies? I feel like I must have missed class the day we were taught this internet skill… can someone teach me please?

just from a folklore point of view, "attractive hooded man kills billionaire head of hated business with bullets inscribed with political slogans and then vanishes" is narratively breathtaking

Between the earthquake/tsuanmi scare, the UnitedHealthcare shooting and the South Korea martial law stuff this week, it feels like Bluesky is getting more and more critical mass around breaking events that made Twitter so sticky and useful.

If you've noticed a sharp rise in commercials promoting the Ontario government's success, the Auditor General has taken note as well.

The Ford gov't has spent $103M on the ads, higher than any other gov't.

I just finished A Man on the Inside tonight and it is such a lovely, touching show. As a millennial who lost their boomer mother this year, whose father is as quirky as those residents, the show spoke to me on so many levels. I adored it.

I miss seeing the footage of people busting through the doors and tussling with one another on Black Friday. These greedy corporations have robbed us of deals AND entertainment.

Someone lighting their cigarette off of something that just happens to be on fire nearby is the ultimate coolest thing a character can do.
Sometimes, you don't need to tell a character's back story in lengthy flashbacks. Sometimes, you just need to give them ONE moment so badass, the viewer will instantly know everything they need to know about them.

People are often surprised when I tell them this: both Twitter and Facebook/insta/threads are now specifically engineered to downgrade, hide, suppress real journalism. If this platform is different, that's a huge change
Traffic from Bluesky to @bostonglobe.com is already 3x that of Threads, and we are seeing 4.5x the conversions to paying digital subscribers.
