Japanese action franchise HiGH&LOW is going to Thailand in 2027 with the launch of new series venture, HiGH&LOW: BORN TO BE HiGH. Thailand's GMMTV and Parbdee Taesuk are producing and mainlining the series with a cast of nearly a dozen A-listers in the region, including Nanon (Korapat Kirdpan), Sky (Wongravee Nateetorn), Nani (Hirunkit Changkham), and Pond (Naravit Lertratkosum). The story inherits the fascinating worldview of the previous "HiGH & LOW" series, and depicts a dynamic world unique to this new chapter through stylish action and the drama of young people standing up to protect their beliefs.

I wasn't a fan of the first one, but happy to see that Jalmari Helander learnt all the right lessons. Better pacing, better writing, better editing. Loved Jorma Tommila's acting. A couple of good laughs too. Could have gone further in the action insanity, but pretty satisfying.

Found out that Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, who directed the last two Bad Boys movies, released a sequel to their Belgian crime film GANGSTA this year (the title's... GANGSTAS). 2nd half contains nice set pieces, such as a long (fake) oner shootout. Only on Prime Benelux for now.

Unsurprisingly, I really liked the Rishab Shetty's KANTARA - A LEGEND: CHAPTER 1 (2025). A well conducted mythological epic that dwells on primordial beliefs, but is also quite funny in its first half. I probably laughed more than I should have at this moment:

The first official behind-the-scenes featurette is now online for TIMUR. Iko Uwais stars in his hotly-anticipated feature directing debut which follows the events of the Mapenduma hostage crisis in 1996.
