New video on the Palisades Fire and why it was so hard to contain. I push back on some major talking points being made about why this fire could have been stopped, when, in reality, there was no logical way to do so in the case of a wildland fire. youtu.be/kLq9vMbspv4

Today is the anniversary of the Park Fire in Northern California, which burned over 429,000 acres and destroyed 709 structures in Cohasset, Forest Ranch, and Paynes Creek. The fire started 5 minutes away from where I live in Chico, and it was a nail biting situation that entire day and night.

Why logging companies don’t need to use herbicides after salvage logging within burn scars. Newsflash: prescribed fire will do an even better job and is way more environmentally friendly, sustainable, and natural in the landscape.

If I started doing videos where I travel to Northern California burn scars, take you all through some pyrogeography and analyzing the burn scar, and then analyzing the fire history in the area through mapping and satellite imagery… would you all watch and be interested?

Some raw, unedited, never-before-seen footage from California's 4th largest wildfire. Tonight was the first time I have seen some of these clips that I shot nearly one year ago. youtu.be/bELi96hB5hM

I wasn’t expecting to chase storms any time soon, but alas things change! The SPC has a marginal risk for severe storms tomorrow in far Northern California for severe winds and large hail. Convective models have been showing isolated storms north of Mount Shasta, with even a chance for a supercell.

Yesterday, #ICECHIP teams collected numerous hailstones > 100 mm in diameter, with the largest one being at least 139 mm (5.47 inches) just east of Afton, Texas. These stones will be sent to the cold lab at NCAR.

This is why I love to chase extreme weather... a time-lapse that I shot of an incredible LP supercell last Thursday near Graham, Texas. This spaceship passed just to our west and provided an amazing show to all of us there to witness it. #WX
