December 24, 2025 at 8:21 AM
Not unexpected given the North Bay and coast/coastal mtn wind gusts > 60 mph but localized power outages are increasing due to weather approaching midnight. 12/23/2025
December 24, 2025 at 8:06 AM
Worth noting we will likely see a second episode of high winds near the coast tomorrow as our second low deepens offshore (possibly sub 980 mb) before lifting inland on Friday. 12/23/2025
December 24, 2025 at 6:31 AM
Peak wind gusts in the 50-60 mph range mainly along the mountains and near the coast including Half Moon Bay up to 52 mph. Close to where most of the outages are popping up. Max wind speeds still expected near midnight-2am as low pressure moves north up the coast 12/23/2025

Still early but as of the 9pm hour per PG&E storm related outages are increasing esp. Santa Cruz mtns and coastal areas. Peak wind expected near/just after midnight. Similar round of wind expected again tomorrow night as well @nbcbayarea 12/23/2025

December 24, 2025 at 5:03 AM
Special marine warnings for possible waterspouts, severe thunderstorm warnings for strong wind or large hail, plus the risk of a brief weak tornado are all possibilities, so please stay weather aware through Christmas and monitor @nbcbayarea.com for updates 12/23/25
December 24, 2025 at 3:19 AM
The other elephant in the room is severe weather potential the next two days, which looks favorable for severe t-storm potential for much of coastal California as noted by SPC. Damaging wind, waterspouts/brief tornadoes inland will be a possibility. Stay tuned 12/23/2025
December 24, 2025 at 3:16 AM
Wind may lead to larger weather impacts tonight esp. near the coast & coastal mtns where tree and power impacts overnight. Rain at times (with breaks) plus the potential for strong t-storms will be possible Wednesday into Thursday. Stay tuned. @nbcbayarea 12/23/2025 #CAwx
