I met Jim Watson a few times but did not know him well. However, I was greatly influenced by his book “The Double Helix”. He was a complicated human being with some very, very bad features, but some good contributions.

In case you're wondering why everyone in Australia still seems to have the flu. The tail on the RHS of the peak seems to be consistently shifting further right in consecutive years too, as does the start of the rise on the LHS. Longer tails on winter? Waning vaccines? Just an anomaly?
Australian Influenza update:
Reported cases have been holding at a stubbornly high plateau. This wave has run much longer than in previous years.
