The CDC changed the universal vaccine schedule & no longer recommends

Rotavirus
Hepatitis A & B
Meningitis
Influenza
RSV

I’ve cared for previously healthy kids who died from RSV, influenza and meningitis.

We all are going to be caring for a lot more now.

The U.S. has surpassed 2000 documented measles cases this year, the highest in more than 30 years.

This is driven by rampant disinformation about vaccines from Robert F. Kennedy Jr., including in his capacity as a government official.

We will lose our elimination status shortly.

Have you checked your university’s contract with qualtrics? I noticed mine allowed qualtrics to use survey responses to train AI.

Neither the IRB nor the procurement dept that negotiated the contract (!) was aware of this

When viewing the fake article in Google scholar on my university network, there is a link to access the article via my uni's library. That link sends me to a library page that makes fake article appear real... Turns out library page is made programmatically from info on Google scholar 🤦

HUGE NEWS from the new Epstein files:

Records show that Maria Farmer, who worked for Epstein, filed a "child pornography" report to the FBI in 1996.

The FBI has never before acknowledged that complaint. The case went nowhere, and mass abuse followed.

UGH!!!
did you see this?
Academics and technologists are sounding the alarm about a growing crisis in scholarship as we know it: AI-generated citations of nonexistent papers that have infested real journals. Despite being fake, the sources are widely assumed to be authentic the more they appear in published literature.

What's the difference between states like Florida, where ICE arrests are sky-high, and states like Illinois with much lower rates of arrests? It's all about police & jails.

Arrest rates out of homes, workplaces, etc are similar – but reining in sheriffs makes all the difference.

I would like to see a coordinated deluge of baseless student complaints for every faculty member so they can see how administratively ridiculous this policy is. Just shut down instruction with paid faculty suspensions
From the Oklahoma U student paper: the school is now saying it will automatically suspend faculty (with pay) in response to student complaints

This is nothing but a handout. Nobody cares what the curricular implementation looks like, because the sole purpose is lock-in contracts for EdTech companies (all AI companies are EdTech companies now).
It's hard to overstate how impossible this demand is from Purdue's administration to implement these AI requirements by next fall. We are nowhere close to understanding what AI proficiency means or what it looks like in education.

I'm honored to share that just in the past two weeks since it came out, my essay "The Claims of Close Reading" became the fourth-most read piece of the year at

so trump traded a fake prize for this?
We now learn that Fifa had a very specific "ask" in exchange for its "Peace Award" to Trump, with loads of gold trinkets, and that was dismissal of a criminal corruption case against senior Fifa officials. And Trump granted it. Another corrupt bargain, barely noticed (and ignored by US media).
